Event Summary

Putra Graduate On Time (GOT), an offshoot of the Putra Sarjana Programme, is initiated by the School of Graduate Studies (SGS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Its purpose is to create awareness among students and academics the importance of graduating within an achievable time period. The programme also aims to support postgraduate students’ research activities through a systematic learning programme. GOT for Masters students is within 4 semesters of study, and 7 or 8 semesters for PhD students. Thus, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) through its School of Graduate Studies (SGS) invites students to attend the following seminar: Speaker: Dr. Kamal Md Udin Seminar: Key word Sequence Importance: Act as Graduate Proficient System (GPS) for Thesis and Publication Date: 26 April 2018 Time: 2.30 am - 4.30 pm Venue: Auditorium Radin Umar, Faculty of Engineering, UPM Seminar Focus Writing a thesis proves very difficult for most postgraduate students. They may carry out research with ease but writing the research documents in the form of a thesis is something they cannot seem to do with ease. More often than not, a postgraduate student will naturally be in a dilemma as in how to put things together in writing his or her thesis. This led to failure to complete the thesis within the stipulated time. Statistics gathered by several research bodies with interests in postgraduate research suggest that this is a problem which spans disciplinary boundaries and indeed is common to postgraduate research in both the social and natural sciences. The postgraduate students do not complete their theses in the allotted time due to slow start, particularly in the area of problem formulation and literature review collection and inadequate collection of data due to poor planning. For example, in the area of note-taking, referencing, and so on. Thus, the objective of this workshop is to enable postgraduate students to save time, increase quality of thesis writing, fast publish review paper and research articles and reduce mental stress. Writing technique of introduction, literature review, materials and methods, results, discussion and conclusion for each thesis chapters and journal paper will be explained in detail according to KSI (Keywords, Sequence, Importance) technique. Finally writing system of summary, recommendation and abstract will be explained. The expected outcome is to enable postgraduate students to graduate on time (GOT) and publish papers in reputable journal. Details of participation fee to this seminar are as follows: 1. Free for UPM academicians and students 2. For Non-UPM students, the fee is RM53.00 3. For Non-UPM staff / professionals, the fee is RM106.00. *Payment can be made at the registration counter on the day of the event. Please bring exact amount of cash for payment.
