A New Semester with A New Norm

Soon students of higher learning institutions will start their studies again in the new semester 2020/2021 begin in October 2020. This semester might be a little different with the other previous semester because due to the COVID-19 pandemic attack, there are some campus’s activities that are still not allowed to be held.

Annual programs like graduation day, students gathering and other events that involving large numbers of students are still not allowed. However, sports activities and small activities or programs that do not involve large numbers of participants can still be held. However, students need to be vigilant to always adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) that have been set by the government.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, there are some important things that should be always emphasized by students:

  • It is obligatory to wear a half face mask when in public areas.
  • Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Maintain a safe distance from people with symptoms of cough or cold.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with your bent elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze
  • Always wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer.
  • seek medical attention if you feel unwell.

Covid-19 positive cases detected in the country are still increasing day by day. Therefore, even though students have been allowed to return to campus for this semester, we must not forget that we are still in the war against Covid-19.
