AGRONOMY

Agronomy is the study of crop husbandry in order to develop methods to improve the use of soil and increase the productivity of food and fibre crops. The programme of study in agronomy focuses on knowledge in the field of plant structure and taxonomy, genetics and plant breeding, plant physiology, cropping systems, weed science, and seed science and technology. Research areas include cell structure and biology, genomic, physiology, and weed control and plant breeding of economic crops. The programme offers relevant academic courses taught by experienced faculty members, and is supported by well-equipped laboratories and field facilities.
