ANATOMY AND HISTOLOGY

The field of anatomy encompasses macroscopic (gross), microscopic (histology), and developmental (embryology) anatomy. Gross anatomy comprises of regional systemic and clinical anatomy, while histology involves microscopic examination of tissues using various specific staining methods. Embryology is a study of development of embryo to foetus. These research fields basically serve tools for other studies to include induced and natural-occurring diseases, toxicology, pharmacology, new and innovative therapeutic regimes, natural products and various cancers. Anatomy and histology are also used in research to determine mechanisms of actions of various compounds on organisms at tissue and cellular levels. The strengths of the research group are development of synthetic compositions for bone repair and ruminant and avian diseases.
