Financial Aid for Local Graduate Students to Undertake Overseas Research Attachment

Local graduate students at UPM are invited to apply for financial assistance for a research attachment activity at a university/institute overseas. Successful applicant will receive financial assistance from the University and the amount are as below: 

  Country

  Maximum Rate (RM)

  Southeast Asia (except Singapore and Brunei)

  3,000.00

  Asia (including Singapore and Brunei)

  4,000.00

  Other countries

  5,000.00

 

Application requirements

  1. Applicant must be a Malaysian.
  2. Applicant must be a registered Master (by research) or PhD student with good academic at the University and has never received financial assistance under this scheme.
  3. The length of research attachment should be between 1-3 months. Justification must be provided if the duration is more than 3 months.
  4. An official invitation letter from the host institution must be provided when application is submitted.
  5. The application form (GS-42) can be downloaded from this PU/S/BR05/GS-42. The application form must be endorsed by the academic advisor or the Chairman of the Supervisory Committee and Dean of Faculty / Director of Institute.
  6. The completed application form must be submitted to the School of Graduate Studies at least 30 days before the attachment date.


Report Guideline

An attachment report must be submitted to the Dean, School of Graduate Studies, UPM within one month after completion of research attachment. Include the following items in the report:

  1. Briefly explain the objectives of the research attachment.
  2. State the impact/significance of the technology which will be beneficial to the research and country as a result of the research attachment.
  3. State how the research attachment has enhanced your experience as a postgraduate student.
  4. Briefly indicate further collaborations with the host institution (if relevant).
  5. You may include suggestions to improve the administration of “Financial Aid to Undertake Overseas Research Attachment” for local graduate students.
