Putra Alumni Scholarship Scheme (PASS) - International

 

PUTRA ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME (PASS) - INTERNATIONAL
SECOND SEMESTER 2023/2024



School of Graduate Studies (SGS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is pleased to announce that the Putra Alumni Scholarship Scheme (PASS)-International is now open for application for the Second Semester 2023/2024 starting from 02 - 22 January 2024. This scholarship was created to encourage International UPM Alumni and their children to study at the graduate level in UPM as a form of loyalty scheme.

 

Terms and Conditions 

  1. Number of scholarships awarded
    i. For UPM Alumni: 100 recipients per year
    ii. For UPM Alumni's children: 20 recipients per year

  2. Category of Applicants
    i. This scheme is only open to new students under who register in the Second Semester 2023/2024, or UPM’s second semester students with “Continue” status in the Second Semester 2023/2024.
    ii. For new students, applications must be submitted before registration as a new student is made, or at the latest in the second semester of study. If the application is made after the registration period, the financing approval is only effective in the second semester of your study.

  3. Duration of the Scholarship
    The scholarship will cover up to 2 years for Master's degree and 3 years for PhD.

  4. Amount of the Scholarship
    i. For UPM Alumni:
    Recipients will be granted a 10% tuition fee waiver
    ii. For UPM Alumni's children:
    Recipients will be granted a 30-50% tuition fee waiver (Based on IGSS Scheme)

Application Eligibility

  1. The applicant must have fulfilled the general application requirements for international students;
  2. The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree or Master's degree with a minimum CGPA
    of 3.50;
  3. Enrol in Programme by Research only;
  4. The applicant must conduct research in priority areas relevant to UPM/Malaysia;
  5. The applicant is not a recipient of any other types of scholarship or financial assistance and should not be engaged in any type of employment at the time of application;
  6. Priority will be given to applicants from developing countries in which UPM holds strategic importance;
  7. The applicant must have a support letter from an advisor/supervisor.
  8. The applicant must have a copy of the research proposal approved by the advisor/supervisor.
  9. The applicant has published at least one article in an academic journal and/or has received strong recommendations from academic institutions (e.g., Vice Chancellor, Dean, Director);
  10. The applicant must have a letter from the student’s embassy verifying that the applicant is not a recipient of any financial assistance/scholarship/income from any agency or government.
  11. For UPM Alumni, the applicant must Graduate on Time (GOT).

 

Application Method

  1. Complete the online application form via the student portal at
    http://sgsportal.upm.edu.my:8080/sgsportal/. 
  2. Please ensure your Advisor/Supervisor and Dean/Director of Faculty/School/Institute support your application online before or latest by 22 January 2024.
  3. Incomplete or late applications will not be processed and any appeals will not be entertained.

 

*Applicants who do not receive a response within three months from the closing date of the ad are considered unsuccessful.
