March 23^rd 2024, SERDANG - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), through the School of Graduate Studies (SGS), have successfully conducted a virtual briefing session, through Zoom Meetings and YouTube Live, for new postgraduate students who have enrolled in the second semester of the 2023/2024 session. A total of 354 new postgraduate students, both local and international, attended the orientation session, which lasted for five (5) hours.

The session commenced with welcoming remarks by the Dean, followed by orientation and explanations provided by the Deputy Deans of SGS on various aspects, including academic matters, thesis guidelines, student affairs, learning support, financial assistance, and mobility opportunities. The orientation session also featured presentations from the responsible centers/ departments that are directly involved in the management of postgraduate students:

1. Bursar's Office
2. University Health Center (PKU)
3. Infocomm Development Center(IDEC)
4. Auxiliary Police & Security Center (APSec)
5. Centre For the Advancement of Language Competence (CALC)
6. Housing and Placement Division (BPP)
7. Students’ Affairs Division (BHEP)

Q&A sessions were conducted throughout the briefing and at the end of each speaker's presentation. Students received clearer information from representatives of SGS and relevant departments through the chat rooms on both platforms. The orientation session concluded with a photography session at 1:30 p.m.
