BRIEFING ON UPM-UNIVERSITY OF NEWCASTLE JOINTLY AWARDED PHD PROGRAMME

Briefing on UPM-University of Newcastle Jointly Awarded PhD Programme

Serdang, 22 July 2016. Prof. Dr. Lucy Johnston, the Dean of Graduate Studies of the University of Newcastle Australia (UoN) and her assistant, Ms. Arianne Galvin, gave a briefing on the UPM-UoN Jointly Awarded PhD programme here, today. The briefing was part of the UPM Postgraduate Info Day 2016, which was held at the UPM Library. Prof. Johnston gave a brief background of UoN, and talked about its academic programmes and its research activities. She also gave a detailed explanation of the collaborative programme between UoN and UPM, and informed the audience that scholarships (monthly stipends) for the programme are now available for outstanding students.

The Jointly Awarded Research Degree (JARD) with UoN is a jointly awarded PhD in areas offered by both universities such as Education, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Health and Medical Sciences, Science, Mathematics, and Psychology. The programme provides an opportunity for students to study in Malaysia and Australia, and to obtain a PhD degree from both universities.
