GLOBAL HIGHER EDUCATION EXHIBITION (GHEDEX) IN MUSCAT, OMAN
UPM recently participated in the 17th edition of the Global Higher Education Exhibition (GHEDEX) held from 19-21 April 2016 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, Muscat, Oman. The GHEDEX is an annual event, and it attracted over 25,000 visitors this year. More than 200 top universities and colleges from 25 countries participated in the event.
The Malaysian delegates were there under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE). Participants from Malaysia comprised of established public and private universities: Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Binary University, Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU), UCSI University, the Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL), Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus, and Quest International University. The Malaysian delegates took the opportunity to share their experiences in handling foreign students at their institutions, and discussed ways to attract more Omani students to study in Malaysia.The UPM booth was visited by approximately 200 visitors. Majority of the visitors were interested in the fields of Business Administration and Engineering. Other popular fields of study included Education, Finance, and Information Technology. The booth also attracted a number of applications for immediate entry into UPM’s postgraduate programmes.
