Graduates urged to contribute knowledge to the community - Tan Sri Nayan

Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Tan Sri Dato' Setia Dr. Nayan Ariffin giving his speech at the second session of the 37th UPM Convocation Ceremony.


SERDANG - Graduates of University Putra Malaysia (UPM) as the alumni of the university are urged to contribute their knowledge to develop a community and civilization with better quality, integrity and synergy with the surroundings.

“The graduates are urged to continue to strive in improving their knowledge as well as their skills and use their success as a platform to contribute back to the community and the country,“ said the Pro- Chancellor of UPM, Tan Sri Dato' Setia Dr. Nayan Ariffin.

He said they should also support the efforts to strengthen the alumni’s relationship and cooperation with UPM as it is an important component in propelling excellence of the university at the international level.

In addition, Tan Sri Nayan also urged UPM graduates to learn more on information and communication technology (ICT) in a mature and positive manner in order to preserve the value of the community and place it at a higher level.

“The explosion of technology has changed the people’s perception, the way they think and react to their surroundings.

“The role of parents and university graduates should continue to preserve the affection and family values beyond racial boundaries due to the strength of the nation depends on the tolerance among its people, "he said during the second session of the 37th UPM Convocation Ceremony, at the Great Hall, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Culture and Arts Centre, Universiti Putra Malaysia here.

At the third session of the 37th UPM Convocation Ceremony, Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah presented Professor Emeritus Award to Prof. Dr. Khor Geok Lin.

A total of 7,149 graduates will receive their degree and diploma scrolls respectively at the 37th UPM Convocation Ceremony of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) from 26 October to 29 October. Of the total number of recipients, 440 will receive their PhDs, 2,197 their Masters, while 4,158 will receive their Bachelors and 354 their Diplomas.
