Student Affairs and Media Unit School of Graduate Studies Briefing

On 27 May 2021, Thursday, School of Graduate Studies held a briefing on Student Affairs and Media Unit to all SGS staff. The main objective of this briefing is to provide information to all SPS staff on the scope of duties under the unit. This briefing is important as all SGS’s staff have to understand the areas of responsibility and main functions of other units.

There are total of 5 staff under the Student Affairs and Media Unit. Prof. Ts. Dr. Zuriati Ahmad Zulkarnain as a Deputy Dean of Student Affairs and Media Unit, Mrs. Maslina Saleh, Deputy Dean Secretary, Mr. Mohamad Hafiz Mohamad, Assistant Registrar, Ms. Thuaibah Aslamiah, Executive Officer 3 and Mrs. Haslinda Sello, Operations Assistant.

Among the areas of responsibility of the HEP and Media Unit are:

  • Provide learning support programs to enhance student academic development and experience.
  • Manage Briefing Ceremony and Pledge of New Postgraduate Students
  • Manage UPM Three Minute Thesis Competition (3MT)
  • Assist the Student Affairs Division (BHEP) under the jurisdiction of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs) to manage matters related to the welfare of postgraduate students (study status - active) such as:
  • accident and death management involving local and international postgraduate students
  • student group insurance management for postgraduate students
  • student discipline management
  • students with disabilities
  • Administer Social Networking Sites (SNS) including the official websites of Facebook, Instagram, Telegram and SGS.
  • Conducting the UPM Convocation Ceremony for postgraduate students
  • Provide SGS Publicity Materials (Poster / Slider Design / etc.)
  • Manage data related to UPM postgraduate students

The briefing was attended by all SPS staff via online, start at 2.30 pm and end at 4.00 pm.
