UPM counselors share their expertise with Bangi community

BANGI, Nov 8 – The Counseling Division of Universiti Putra Malaysia (BKUPM) recently organized a community programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan Seksyen 7 (SKS7), Bandar Baru Bangi.

The counselors-meet-the-community programme, themed “Together In Preventing Juvenile Deliquency and Drug Abuse” saw the participation of 3,500 primary pupils and teachers, parents as well as members of Parent-Teacher’s Associations.

Programme Director, Kemelia Omar said the theme of the programme coincided with the needs for present situations, especially from the aspect of growing social problem which saw a worrying increase in cases.

“It is our hope that such a programme will give that positive impact to the society,” she said.



The programme which also involved SKS7 Disciplinary, Guidance and Counselling units, was to ensure that each participant will benefit,  especially in efforts to expose them to preventive measures from being involved in juvenile delinquency and drug abuse from young.



Various interesting activities were held for them throughout the programme, including those put up by BKUPM Booth Expo, Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) and UPM’s Kelab Pemadam, Expressive Arts Therapy from BKUMPM counselor and an Awareness Forum: Prevention of Deliquent Behaviours and Drug Abuse: by two panelists from  PDRM and AADK from the Hulu Langat district.

A colouring activity, “Anti-Drug Campaign” was also held to enliven the programme. – UPM.
