MELAKA, Dec 13 – For the first time, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Kelab Teater Sejagat PENTAS, was crowned as the overall champion in the Festival Teater MAKUM 2015.
Its theatre, entitled “Badut” (Clown) and scripted by Khairul Amin, was picked as the champion, walking away with a cash prize of RM3,000. The team also won the Best Technical Effects category in the Best Lighting and Best Audio.
The Best Supporting Actor, meanwhile, was won by Muhammad Nabil Asyraf Azhar while Nazreen Ashira Amran won the Best Supporting Actress. The threatre club comes under the patronage of UPM Students’ Affairs Division (BHEP).
A total of 18 public universities took part in this year’s Festival Teater MAKUM which was held in stages under different zones – Central Zone, Northern Zone and Eastern Zone.
Only six local institutions of higher learning were chosen to the finals held at Kompleks Taman Budaya Negeri Melaka, Air Keroh.
The event was also supported by Negeri Melaka Culture and Arts Department.
Meanwhile, UPM Engineering Faculty Final Year student, Muhammad Hasif Mansor emerged runner-up at a public university-level's Traditional Malay Song Contest MAKUM 2015 at Panggung Percubaan, UPM, recently.
Muhammad Hasif who crooned away Mas Merah as a compulsory song and Zapin Budi won RM1,000 in cash prize, a certificate and a plaque.
Ten UA participants took part in the contest and they were from UPM, Universiti Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Malaya Pahang, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia and Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia.- UPM.
