UPM PhD Student Wins Best Paper Presenter Award at an International Research Conference held at Nanyang Technological Univerisity (NTU), Singapore

International Conferences provide opportunities to local and international postgraduates in developing strong networks and sharing their research areas. Hence, taking part in an international conference gives a participant the opportunity to share his or her research area among international audiences.

What if you are given only 15 minutes to share clearly your research in front of multi-cultural cultural audiences from 33 countries?

Presenting a paper in such a conference is typically challenging when the participants are from 24 countries including the USA, Argentina, Canada, Australia, Norway, Portugal, France, South Africa, South Korea, Egypt, Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, Ethiopia, Iran, Pakistan, Nigeria, Spain, Thailand, China, Malaysia, Taiwan and India while there were also listeners from 9 countries including Turkey, Sierra Leone, Tunisia, Morocco, Ghana, Nepal, Gambia and Kenya.

A Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) student won the best presenter award in the 4th Singapore International Conference on Social Science & Humanities (ICSSH).

Md Asadul Islam, a 30-year-old PhD student from the Faculty of Economics and Management, has been awarded the best paper presenter award at the conference where participants and listeners were from 33 countries.

The winning best paper presenter was entitled “Impact of Empowerment, Flexibility and Trust on Women‘s Access to Senior Positions in the RMG industry of Bangladesh”. His supervisor is Dr Amer Hamzah Jantan. The Travel, Accommodation, Food and other costs for the conference were sponsored by the School of Graduate Studies (SGS), UPM.

Md Asadul Islam thanks to his Supervisor and SGS Conference Support Team in preparing the presentation and motivating him to deliver the presentation.
