UPM Postgraduate Students Dominate Awards in National Nanotechnology Innovation Research Project Competition 2018 (PIN'18)

TECHNOLOGY PARK MALAYSIA (TPM), 9 OKT - National Nanotechnology Center (NNC) under the auspices of Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment & Climate Change (MESTECC) has successfully organized the National Nano Program (NanoKEB 2018) which was held from 9th to 11th October 2018 located at Technology Park Malaysia (TPM), Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.

NanoKEB 2018 is an annual NNC program was also part of NNC's activities in an effort for knowledge exposure on nanotechnology to the public as a form of culture and economic resources towards an innovative and high-income nation.

The program also promotes opportunity for an extensive imaginative space related nanotechnology innovation that has the potential to be implemented in the future.

The NNC also hosted the Nanotechnology Innovation Research Project 2018 (PIN'18) Competition, to provide opportunities for Master and Doctorate students to shares and highlights their innovative and creative ideas to be absorbed in research in order to implement nanotechnology and production of particular materials for further application in various industrial sectors.

Universiti Putra Malaysia postgraduate students have dominated the awards and become the Champion of the National Nanotechnology Innovative Research Project Competition (PIN'18) for the Doctor of Philosophy and Master's degree categories.

For Doctor of Philosophy category, the first place winner who caught the attention of the jury get a trophy, a certificate of participation and a cash prize of RM1,500 was awarded to IZWAHARYANIE BINTI IBRAHIM (UPM) with a project titled "Modification of Three-Dimensional Printed Electrode with Cellulose Acetate Beads Infused with Cadmium Sulfide Nanoparticles and Graphene for Dual-functional Photo Electrochemical Sensor-adsorbent of Copper (II) Ions ".

The third place winner for the Doctor of Philosophy category awarded a trophy, certificate of participation and RM500 cash was awarded to SHAFARINA AZLINDA BINTI AHMAD KAMAL (UPM) with a project titled "Graphene-Conductive Inks as A Disposable Carbon Dioxide Gas Sensor".

The consolation award for Doctor of Philosophy category get a certificate of participation and a RM100 cash was awarded to MOHD AMIRUL SYAFIQ BIN MOHD YUNOS (UPM) for the research project titled "Development of Industrial Gold Nanoparticle Radiotracer for Early Detection of Flow Problems in the Chemical and Petrochemical Processing Industry".
