UPM Vice-Chancellor chairs 143rd ASAIHL Board Of Trustees Meeting in Taiwan

TAIPEI, May 18 –
Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris chairing a meeting of ASAIHL Board of Trustees at National Taiwan University in Taipei. In her maiden speech, Prof. Datin Paduka Aini, in expressing her appreciation and gratitude to former UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Mohd Fauzi Ramlan for his contributions as ASAIHL President, said she will continue with the responsibility entrusted to Universiti Putra Malaysia in leading ASAIHL for a duration of up to December 2016.

Prof. Datin Aini also expressed her gratitude to the President and leadership of National Taiwan University for their hospitality and successful organization of the current ASAIHL conference.
This significant conference has set a record of its own as it celebrates ASAIHL’s 60 years of establishment. Established in 1956, ASAIHL was the brainchild of eight universities from 8 Asian member countries - Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong, China.

MEMBERS of the Board of Trustees congratulated Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. AIni Ideris on her appointment as UPM Vice-Chancellor, and subsequently assumed the leadership of ASAIHL.

They expressed support for Datin Paduka to take ASAIHL to higher dimension.

ASAIHL Board of Trustees is the highest ASAIHL policy-making body that decides on its direction and activities which will be implemented by ASAIHL for mutual interest and benefit of all.

The host of the current ASAIHL meeting and conference is the National Taiwan University. Vice-President for International Affairs, Prof.  Dr. Luisa Shu-Ying Chang was  also present as the host representing NTU President, Prof. Dr. Pan-Chyr Yang.
