RE-USE, RE-SERVE, REWARD: SGS Completes EKSA Recycling Initiative To Promote Campus Sustainability

SERDANG, 3 April 2026 – The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) successfully concluded its Recycling Program held from 16 March to 3 April 2026. Organized under the Public Sector Conducive Ecosystem (EKSA), the initiative aimed to enhance workplace organization while fostering environmental responsibility among staff and students.

The program focused on the collection of used paper and cooking oil, which were sent to a certified recycling centre to be repurposed. Key highlights of the initiative include:

  • Community Welfare: All proceeds from the collection were channelled to the SPS Club to fund staff activities.
  • Top Contributors: Special rewards were presented to the highest contributors to encourage proactive participation.
  • SDG Alignment: The drive supports UPM’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically regarding Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production, as well as Climate Action.

By embedding these green practices into its organizational culture, SGS reaffirms its support for UPM’s vision of a resilient and sustainable campus.
