Local graduate students at UPM are invited to apply for financial assistance for a research attachment activity at a university/institute overseas. Successful applicant will receive financial assistance from the University and the amount are as below:

Application requirements
- Applicant must be a Malaysian.
- Applicant must be a registered Master (by research) or PhD student with good academic standing (the status is “Continue”) at the University and has never received financial assistance under this scheme.
- The length of research attachment should be between 1-3 months. Justification must be provided if the duration is more than 3 months.
- The research to be carried out during the attachment must be related to applicant’s Master / PhD research.
- An official invitation letter from the host institution must be provided when application is submitted.
- The application form (GS-42) can be downloaded through this URL Link. The application form must be endorsed by the academic advisor or the Chairman of the Supervisory Committee and Dean of Faculty / Director of Institute.
- The completed application form must be submitted to the School of Graduate Studies at least 30 days before the attachment date.
Report Guideline
Student should submit a research attachment report to the Dean, School of Graduate Studies UPM, not later than 2 months after the completion of research attachment. The report should include:
- Overview of the objectives and activities conducted/participated during research attachment. Photo of the activities must be attached in the report.
- Impact / significance of the research attachment to your Master / PhD research
- Contribution of the research attachment towards enriching your experience as a postgraduate student
- Plans for future collaboration with the host institution that may involve supervisor or even faculty (if any).
- Feedback from other students/faculty members through Experience Sharing Session conducted by the faculty/institute.
- Recommendations to improve the “Financial Aid to undertake Overseas Research Attachment” for local graduate students.
