
APPLICATION FOR GRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANSHIP (GRA)
SECOND SEMESTER 2025/2026
(EXTENSION ONLY)
School of Graduate Studies (SGS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is pleased to announce that the application for Graduate Research Assistantships (GRA) is now open for local students (extension) for the Second Semester 2025/2026 from 01 – 31 January 2026.
Application Eligibility:
Applications are open to all local and international students who have previously received the GRA scheme in the previous semester and meet the following criteria:
Each application must obtain approval from the Advisor/Supervisor and the Dean/Director of Faculty/School/Institute.
This scholarship is funded by the Advisor/Supervisor/Member of the Supervisory Committee’s research grant. The grant must be valid and active for the term of the GRA appointment made in the semester for which it was applied, with a balance of at least RM15,000.00.
The applicant must also attach the following documents with his/her application:

Monthly allowance (depending on total no. of hours allocated for assisting in teaching).

Duration of The Assistantship
Master: Maximum 4th semesters of study
PhD : Maximum 6th semesters of study
Recipients Responsibilities
Under this scheme, each recipient is responsible:
To comply with the regulations or laws and fulfil all requirements as stated in the programme of study;
To successfully complete their studies;
To assist in teaching/tutorial/practical activities/laboratory works for a period of not exceeding 6 hours per week including semester break;
To assist in research works as assigned by the advisor/supervisor;
To record daily attendance/log activity online through the student portal;
To fulfil the publication requirements for Master or PhD students (as the first/corresponding author); and
Leave of Work
Recipients who are absent for 10 days or more in a month, shall not be eligible to receive allowance for that particular month.
Agreement Bond
Under this scheme, the recipient is required to sign an agreement with the university, and breach of contract and compensation claims may be imposed if the recipient fails to fulfil the terms stipulated under the GRA Scheme.

Please ensure your Advisor/Supervisor and Dean/Director of Faculty/School/Institute support your application online before or latest by 31 January 2026.
Note: If any information given is found to be incorrect, the scholarship will be terminated, and the student is required to refund the full amount of the fee and allowance given.
