Benchmarking Visit by Minnan University of Science and Technology (MNUST), China, to the School of Graduate Studies, UPM

Serdang, November 14th, 2025 — The School of Graduate Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia, received a benchmarking visit from a delegation of Minnan University of Science and Technology (MNUST), China. Held at Meeting Room 1 of the School of Graduate Studies and commencing at 9:00 a.m., the visit aimed to strengthen academic ties and facilitate the exchange of best practices in graduate studies management and research development between the two institutions.

The MNUST delegation was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Rusmawati Said, Deputy Dean (Thesis and Student Development), and Prof. Dr. Nitty Hirawaty Kamarulzaman, Deputy Dean (Admissions, Institutional Relations and Financial Assistance), School of Graduate Studies, UPM. The programme began with a presentation introducing UPM as a research university committed to academic excellence, high-impact research capabilities, and global collaboration networks.

 

Representatives from the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology were also invited to deliver focused presentations on their respective faculties. These sessions highlighted key research strengths, academic programmes, and potential opportunities for collaboration and student mobility.

Throughout the visit, both parties exchanged views on strategies to enhance graduate employability, monitor research progress, and advance the internationalisation of graduate education. The discussions, conducted in a cordial and professional atmosphere, opened avenues for future collaboration between UPM and MNUST.

 

The programme concluded at 11:00 a.m. with a photography session and the presentation of commemorative tokens, symbolising appreciation and the strengthening of institutional ties. The visit reflects the School of Graduate Studies’ ongoing commitment to expanding international networks and advancing academic excellence through strategic global partnerships.
