July 10th, 2024, Wednesday - The judging of the Read@Uni UPM Reading Corner Competition at the Graduate School was conducted by two appointed judges, Ms. Nazibah Kamaruddin and Mr. Khairul Anwar Zulkifli from the Sultan Abdul Samad Library, UPM. The judging session began with a photo session with the judges for mementos, followed by a presentation and a tour of the SPS Reading Corner. The presentation was delivered by Ms. Norhasliza Hassan, Deputy Registrar of the Graduate School, while the subsequent explanation at the SPS Reading Corner was provided by Ms. Izura, Assistant Registrar of the Thesis Unit at the Graduate School.
The highlight of the SPS Reading Corner is the use of IT technology, specifically the borrowing and book record system using the Putra-iRead system. Putra-iRead won a Bronze Award in the Service Innovation Awards in the Management Category at the UPM Quality and Service Innovation Day 2022. The use of the Putra-iRead system is not limited to staff but can also be used by students and external visitors. Its usage is user-friendly and includes a synopsis for each book available on the provided shelves. This innovation facilitates the loan record process, such as loan duration, borrower details, and book codes.
The judging session was brief and concise, starting at 3 PM and concluding at 4 PM with the presentation of souvenirs from the Graduate School to both judges involved.
