July 3rd, 2026 – The School of Graduate Studies (SGS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), organised the Lestari Herba programme on 3 July 2026 at 9.00 a.m., held at a small plot of land located behind the SGS building within the Topaz Zone (EKSA). The initiative aimed to promote environmental sustainability awareness and encourage green practices among SGS staff.

The programme saw active participation from all SGS staff, who collectively contributed to the planting of various types of herb plants. Among the herbs planted, contributed by staff members, were lemongrass, Vietnamese coriander (daun kesum), pandan, turmeric leaves, ginger, and other locally beneficial herbs commonly used in daily life.

In addition to planting activities, participants were also involved in labelling both newly planted and existing herb plants to facilitate easier identification and serve as an informal learning resource. This effort not only enhanced the aesthetic value of the SGS surroundings but also created a functional green space for reference and educational purposes.

The implementation of this programme aligns with the principles of the Public Sector Conducive Ecosystem (EKSA), which emphasises a clean, green, and conducive working environment. Through the collective involvement of staff, the programme successfully fostered teamwork, shared responsibility, and greater environmental awareness.

Overall, the Lestari Herba programme contributed to the greening of the SGS while strengthening a culture of sustainability among its staff. It is hoped that such initiatives will continue to be expanded as part of ongoing efforts to create a healthier, greener, and more sustainable campus environment.
