The hybrid session attracted strong participation from postgraduate students and members of the university community who were eager to gain deeper insights into the evolving role of artificial intelligence (AI) in today’s digital landscape.
The seminar was delivered by Professor Ts. Dr. Nurfadhlina Mohd Sharef, Chief Digital Officer of the Infocomm Development Centre (iDEC), UPM. In her engaging and thought-provoking presentation, she highlighted how AI is increasingly becoming a critical partner in decision-making processes across various sectors. She further emphasised that while AI technologies continue to advance rapidly, human responsibility remains a fundamental element in ensuring that these tools are utilised ethically, transparently, and effectively.

Throughout the session, participants were exposed to practical perspectives on how AI can support decision-making while maintaining accountability and integrity. The speaker also underscored the importance of developing a balanced approach, where human judgement and ethical considerations guide the use of AI systems. This is particularly crucial in academic and research environments, where the responsible application of AI can significantly enhance outcomes without compromising academic values.
The interactive nature of the seminar encouraged active participation, with attendees engaging in discussions and raising insightful questions related to real-world AI applications. The hybrid format also enabled broader accessibility, allowing participants to join either physically or virtually, thus fostering a more inclusive learning environment.
