March 3rd, 2026 – The Putra Sarjana Seminar entitled “Class 1: Scopus/WoS High Impact Journals with AI: Minimum 2 Papers with Hour-glass Theory” by Dr. Thavamaran Kanesan, Founder and Director of Proofreading by A UK PhD, was successfully held online via Zoom yesterday. The session introduced postgraduate students to effective strategies for publishing in high-impact journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science (WoS). Participants were exposed to practical techniques on identifying suitable journals, understanding editorial expectations, and structuring manuscripts using the Hour-glass Theory to ensure clarity, coherence, and strong research positioning.

Dr. Thavamaran also highlighted how artificial intelligence (AI) tools can be ethically and strategically utilised to enhance academic writing, improve language quality, refine arguments, and streamline the publication process. The session emphasised the importance of originality, research significance, and methodological rigour in producing quality scholarly articles, with a target of achieving at least two publications from a single research project. The interactive seminar allowed participants to engage in discussions and gain valuable insights into overcoming common challenges faced during the publication journey, including reviewer comments and manuscript revisions.

The School of Graduate Studies (SGS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), remains committed to empowering postgraduate students with essential knowledge and skills to excel in research and publication, in line with its aspiration to strengthen global academic visibility and impact.
