SGS Implements Recycling Program Under EKSA Initiative, Promotes Green Practices and Campus Sustainability

July 18th, 2025, Serdang – The School of Graduate Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia, successfully conducted a recycling activity as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability under the Public Sector Conducive Ecosystem (EKSA) initiative. The effort reflects SGS’s continuous steps in enhancing workplace organisation, promoting environmental consciousness, and fostering a clean, efficient, and systematic working environment.

Held on July 18th, the program focused on the collection of selected recyclable items such as used paper, plastic bottles, aluminium cans, and used cooking oil. All collected materials were handed over to certified recycling partners to ensure responsible and environmentally friendly waste management. Beyond reducing the amount of solid waste generated, this initiative aimed to raise awareness and instil a culture of recycling and environmental responsibility among SPS staff and students. It served as an educational platform to encourage individuals to play an active role in protecting the environment through simple, everyday actions.

This small efforts like this can lead to significant positive impacts over time when practised consistently and embedded into the workplace culture. This activity also aligns with the university’s broader support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in areas related to climate action and sustainable resource management. The program also served as a platform to bring the SPS community together in contributing to a greener and healthier environment while embedding values of social and environmental responsibility across the organisation.

Through this initiative, SGS reaffirms its commitment to strengthening EKSA practices and supporting UPM’s vision of becoming a resilient, environmentally friendly, and sustainable campus in the years to come.
