Vice-Chancellor’s Address and Mandate Ceremony Strengthens UPM’s Strategic Direction

Serdang, January 31st, 2026 — The Vice-Chancellor’s 2026 Message and Mandate Ceremony was successfully held, gathering the entire community of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in a unified commitment to move forward with a clear, structured direction grounded in the university’s core values. This annual event serves as an important platform for communicating the university’s aspirations, strategic plans, and key priorities for the year ahead.

The address received strong participation from members of the UPM community who attended to gain clarity on the university’s direction and focus for 2026. Guided by the spirit of “With Knowledge We Serve,” UPM will continue to strengthen its academic reputation, research excellence, and international networks in line with its responsibility to the nation and the global community.

 

 

In his mandate, the Vice-Chancellor emphasised that the concept of TRUE NORTH UPM is not merely a slogan or rhetoric, but a shared strategic framework that requires deep understanding and collective commitment from all members of the university. He stressed that only through unity, discipline, and consistent implementation can UPM progress towards a common destination in a systematic, phased, and impactful manner.

Members of the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) were also present to listen to the mandate delivered. Their attendance reflected SGS’s ongoing commitment to supporting the university’s aspirations and ensuring that strategic initiatives are effectively implemented at the responsibility centre level.

Overall, the Vice-Chancellor’s 2026 Message and Mandate Ceremony marked an important milestone in reinforcing unity and renewing the commitment of the UPM community to move forward confidently, in line with the university’s aspirations for national and global excellence.
