SERDANG, Nov 12 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) menganjurkan Seminar Kemahiran Insaniah Kebangsaan (SKIK) 2016 bagi memberi pendedahan kepada pelajar mengenai kepentingan kebolehpasaran selepas bergraduat.

Deputy Higher Education Minister, Datuk Dr. Mary Yap Kain Ching said such a seminar could harness their talents, providing them with a reflex of self-confidence and ability that could benefit them.

“Students should possess soft skills because it is important for use in their respective fields of employment. As educated and knowledgeable students, they should possess those exemplary values,” she said when launching SKIK 2016 here.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris, meanwhile, said the programme was one of the initiatives by the university in its efforts to produce graduates who excelled academically, and have soft skills.

“This programme provides the platform for them to share their ideas and experiences on the significance of soft skills and to ensure continuity of closer network and cooperation between government agencies and the private sector,” she said.

A total of 3,500 participants, comprising UPM students and staff and others from public universities, took part in SKIK 2016.
