
| Doctoral Degree Programme (PhD) |

The applicant shall possess:
- A Master’s degree in the field or related fields accepted by the UPM Senate; or
- Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s degree recognized by the Government of Malaysia (Malaysia Qualification Agency); or
- Candidates without a related qualification in the field/s or working experience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by the Faculty/School/Institute; or
- A Bachelor’s degree with the following conditions:
- A bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with first-class or its equivalent; and - Undergo internal assessment by Faculty/School/Institute; and - Any other requirement determined by the Faculty/School/Institute; Note: For the applicant admitted from a bachelor’s degree to PhD, the applicant shall not be awarded a Master Degree if the applicant fails his viva voce.
- An applicant who is in the final semester of his Master programme may be considered for provisional admission subject to his current CGPA or its equivalent satisfies the Doctoral Degree programme admission requirements.
- Fulfill other requirements specified by the Faculty/School/Institute for the programme.

| Master by Research |
|
The applicant shall possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.750 or equivalent, as accepted by the UPM Senate; or
- A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with range CGPA of 2.500 to CGPA 2.749 can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment [determined by the] by Faculty/School/Institute; or
- A bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields or equivalent with a range of CGPA 2.000 to CGPA 2.499, can be accepted subject to:
- a minimum of 5 years working experience in the relevant field; and - rigorous internal assessment [determined by the] by Faculty/School/Institute.
- Candidates without a related qualification in the field/s or working experience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by the Faculty/School/Institute and meet the minimum CGPA; and
- An applicant who is in the final semester of his Bachelor programme may be considered for provisional admission subject to his current CGPA or its equivalent satisfies the Master’s degree programme admission requirements; and
- Fulfill other requirements specified by the Faculty/School/Institute for each the programme.

The applicant shall possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.750 or equivalent, as accepted by the UPM Senate; or
- A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with range CGPA of 2.000 to CGPA 2.749 can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment [determined by the] by Faculty/School/Institute; or
- Candidates without a related qualification in the field/s or working experience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by the Faculty/School/Institute and meet the minimum CGPA; and
- An applicant who is in the final semester of his Bachelor programme may be considered for provisional admission subject to his current CGPA or its equivalent satisfies the Master’s degree programme admission requirements.
- Fulfill other requirements specified by the Faculty/School/Institute for each programme.

| Admission Through APEL (For Malaysian and International Applicants) |
|
UPM accepts:
- APEL A T-7 as an alternative entry requirement for Master programme; and
- APEL A T-8 as an alternative entry requirement for Doctor of Philosophy programme
Entry requirements for admission is as below:
(A) Programme (APEL A T-8) (PhD by Coursework, Mixed Mode and Fully Research-based)
- At least 35 years of age in the year of application.
- Possess at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent or higher qualifications. (e.g Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma)
- Possess at least five (5) years of relevant work experience after completion of the Bachelor’s degree programme.
- Pass the APEL.A assessment for Doctorate level.
(B) Programme (APEL A T-7) (Master (by Coursework, Mixed Mode and Fully Research-based), Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate)
- At least 30 years of age in the year of application.
- Possess at least an STPM/Diploma/equivalent qualification (or those with higher qualifications. (e.g., Advanced Diploma, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma)
- Possess relevant work experience.
- Pass the APEL.A assessment for Master’s level.
