CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

This graduate program emphasizes on the assessment and treatment of mental illness, behavioural disorders, and psychiatric problems within the community. Clinical psychology is a field that studies human in terms of observation or experiment with the intention of promoting change. This field also integrates science, theory, and clinical knowledge for the purpose of understanding complex human problems, early prevention in the management and treatment of psychopathological problems and promoting the subjective well-being and personal development of an individual. 

Under the supervision of accomplished clinical psychologists who have been internationally and nationally recognised through prestigious awards and research, this program is committed in training clinical psychologists that are able to conduct research that advances: 1) the scientific knowledge of mental illness, and 2) the understanding of how to deliver evidence-based methods of assessment and clinical intervention for those with mental health problems. Research topics must be related to the field of clinical psychology. Examples of research topics that will be studied in this field are as follows:

  1. Child and adult psychopathology
    Research covers the relationship between parent and child, emotional and behavioural disorders, family-based treatment and prevention, child abuse, and the relationship between language development and communication related to childhood psychological disorders.

  2. Psychological disorders
    Research area includes anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, psychotic, obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorder, eating disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and behavioural addiction.

  3. Experimental psychopathology
    Research area focuses on examining the cognitive, neurobiological motivational, interpersonal, and social psychology mechanisms of mental illness.

  4. Psychological treatment
    Research covers topics of evidence-based psychological treatment such as cognitive behavioural therapy, family therapy, and motivational interviews.


ENTRY REQUIREMENT
1. Candidate must have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and a CGPA of at least 3.00 or equivalent from any university recognized
    by the Senat
2. For international candidate, IELTS/TOEFL marks according to university requirements
