ACCEPTED ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY SCORE

APPLICABLE TO ALL NEW STUDENTS ENROLLED BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 2023 ONWARDS International applicants may not provide the English Language Proficiency score during the initial application phase, but will be granted a provisional admission offer if the application is successful. Exception to those who are applying for the programmes under English Department, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication (FBMK), he/she must provide the English Language Proficiency score at the time of application. International applicants who received a provisional admission letter due to not meeting the English language requirement must provide a valid English Language Proficiency score, from any of the accepted centres in the table below upon registration in the PutraENROLL system. International applicants who do not fall to any of the categories in Exemption will not be exempted from fulfilling the requirement.   Note: IELTS INDICATOR, APTIS, DUOLINGO, TOEFL ITP and Medium of Instruction (MoI) letter are not accepted to meet the English Language requirements. ENGLISH LANGUAGE BRIDGING PROGRAMME

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) offers a range of English Programmes to assist international candidates whose English Language Proficiency test scores have expired, are invalid, or who are unable to provide any accepted test score at the time of registration in PutraENROLL. Candidates are required to first sit for a Placement Test (PTEST) at the ELS Language Centre (UPM Branch) to determine their level of English proficiency. The level of English Programme that a candidate is required to undertake will depend on the results of the Placement Test, which will determine the candidate’s Programme Category upon enrolment and eligibility to join the Certified Intensive English Programme (CIEP) under the ELS Language Centre, UPM. Late submission of a new English Proficiency Test Score will not be considered for students who have registered for English courses with ELS. Students must complete the entire English courses until he/she has fulfilled the English Language Requirement, otherwise their study status may be withdrawn and the admission offer may be declared void. Internatinal candidates who intend to enrol in an English Programme are not permitted to begin the English courses earlier than the registration date stated in the offer letter. They may only register as a student of Programme of Studies without Degree for a period not exceeding one (1) year. International candidates are advised to plan carefully their English Language pathway to fulfill the requirement after securing an offer of admission. It may not only delay your progress for academic courses (Master/PhD), but will also affect your visa duration and finances. CERTIFIED INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAMME (CIEP)

The Certified Intensive English Programme (CIEP) is a full-time intensive course designed to help students meet the English proficiency requirement for UPM postgraduate admission. To register for CIEP, you must first sit for the “Placement Test” at ELS Language Centres (UPM Branch) to determine your English proficiency and the CIEP level that you will enter.
