This field of study covers an extensive scope ranging from red blood cell disorders particularly thalassaemia, haematological malignancies, platelet disorders to transfusion medicine. Gene-gene interactions as well as genotype-phenotype correlations are studied in depth to enhance understanding of the haematological network. By using the latest methods available in the laboratories, creative designs and innovative solutions are actively pursued to simplify identification of disorders and translating basic research into effective applied settings. The researchers are highly skilled in their area of specialty and there are strong collaboration efforts within the unit as well as with national and international counterparts. Research in this area will not only challenge critical thinking but also push the boundaries of science.
