This field covers studies related to theories and practices in mathematics education for the enhancement of mathematical understanding. Amongst the approaches to be investigated are constructivism, mastery, cooperative, collaborative, contextual learning and problem-based learning. Other pedagogical perspectives include cognitive-guided instruction, the zone of proximal development, values, beliefs and epistemology related to mathematics education, the development of mathematical thinking, the impact of the integration of technology in mathematics teaching, technology design in mathematics teaching, and current issues or policies related to mathematics education.
