POSTGRADUATE INTENSIVE ENGLISH 2 (PIE 2)

PIE 2 is compulsory for international applicants who have been given provisional admission and obtained one of the following English Language test scores:

500-549for the TOEFL Paper-based Test (Academic Version); or
61-78 for TOEFL Internet-based; or
Band 5.5 for IELTS (Academic Training); or
Band 3 (score 160 - 179)for MUET; or
42 - 49 overall score for PTE Academic; or
Level 107& 108 of CIEP at ELS Language Centre; or
Level 108 & 109 of Placement Test result at ELS Language Centre

Duration:

14 weeks or 8 weeks for the intensive mode

Registration:

PIE 2 will be registered as an AUDIT course. Students are required to complete and pass the PIE in the first semester. However, if they fail a course, they will be given another semester to repeat and pass the course. Students are also required to pay additional fees (RM220 per credit) for course repeat. If any student fails the course after the second attempt, the provisional admission will be withdrawn.

Classes:

Classes are held between 10 am – 1 pm or 2 pm – 5 pm*. Students must attend classes 4 times a week. Details of the class schedule will be given during registration and attendance is compulsory for all PIE classes.

Evaluation:

Course work – 70%

Examination – 30%

Students are required to complete various assignments for all courses. Quizzes will be administered regularly to keep track of student progress.
