This programme aims to produce dynamic educators and professionals who are able to monitor and improve their practice as well as apply their practical knowledge, educational theories and research to resolve issues related to the field of education. The uniqueness of the programme is the emphasis on the sociology of education as a whole domain from both micro and macro perspectives. The micro aspect includes factors in the school and other educational institutions as agents of socialisation such as culture and educational environment climate, discipline, peer group, and hidden curriculum. While from the macro perspective, the domains discussed include educational institution as a formal system, the teaching profession, equality in education, and cultural diversity in education.
