Offer Validity, Provisional Offer and Admission Defer

VALIDITY OF OFFER AND DEFERMENT OF ADMISSION

OFFER OF ADMISSION
The offer of admission is valid for one (1) academic year OR two (2) semesters, OR three (3) trimesters. Candidates are required to reply to the offer through the Applicant Portal either:

  1. Accept the offer; or
  2. Accept the offer but would like to defer to the next intake; or
  3. Reject the offer

DEFERMENT OF ADMISSION
A candidate is not permitted to defer admission for more than two (2) semesters or three (3) trimesters or one (1) year. The offer of admission is automatically withdrawn if the candidate fails to register within the stipulated time. Contact the Admissions Unit if a second deferment is required or to reject the accepted offer via sgs.admissions@upm.edu.my

ACTIONS REQUIRED FOR CANDIDATES WITH PROVISIONAL OFFER LETTER

1. NEED TO SUBMIT THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST SCORE
International candidates are required to fulfill one of the following:

  1. Upload a valid English proficiency test score that meets the minimum score for a full admission in the PutraENROLL system during the pre-registration week. Further details regarding the score requirements, please refer to the link English Language Requirement 
    List of Recognised English proficiency Test:
    CAMBRIDGE LINGUASKILL THROUGH CALC, UPM ONLY
    CIEP PLACEMENT TEST
    IELTS
    MUET
    PTE
    TOEFL 

    or;

  2. Enroll in the English Programme namely Certified Intensive English Programme (CIEP) in ELS Language Centres (UPM Branch) during the pre-registration week and complete it within a minimum of one (1) semester and a maximum of three (3) semesters before being allowed to continue your main degree program. Programme details: ELS UPM

 

Note: Once you are enrolled in the English programme (CIEP), you are required to complete it. Any English proficiency test scores will no longer be accepted after registration.

 

2. MUST PASS PREREQUISITE COURSE

  • Students must register and pass the prerequisite course(s) required by the Faculty/School/Institute by the end of first semester/trimester.
  • Once prerequisite course(s) are successfully completed, students must inform the Faculty/School/Institute to update their study status from “Provisional” to “Continue”. Otherwise, the study status will be automatically “Suspended” on the third semester/trimester.

 

3. NEED TO SUBMIT A COPY OF THE OFFICIAL BACHELOR/ MASTER DEGREE CERTIFICATE

  • Upload a certified copy of academic certificate and transcript in the PutraENROLL system during the pre-registration week;
  • Present the original academic certificate and transcript, along with other required documents listed in the New Student Registration Checklist (for verification purposes), at the School of Graduate Studies (SPS), Counter 2 during the registration week or by the end of your second semester.
