Every human being constantly communicates, whether verbally or through digital platforms such as social media, messages, and comments. Words have the power to bring either good or harm, and they greatly affect relationships and social harmony. Therefore, being cautious when speaking is extremely important, especially in this technological era where words can spread rapidly.
In Islam, speech holds great value because every word spoken will be accounted for before Allah SWT. Hurtful words, statements that spark hostility, or the spread of negative content can damage relationships and create division. Many sins that originate from the tongue—such as backbiting, slander, and harsh speech—can distance a person from Allah’s mercy.
Islam teaches its followers to speak good words or remain silent if they are unable to say something beneficial. This principle reflects wisdom in guarding one’s tongue and is a sign of faith. Good speech, such as offering advice, words of encouragement, and sincere praise, not only brings happiness to others but is also considered an act of charity that earns spiritual rewards.
Beyond verbal communication, written communication must also be carefully managed. Every message, post, or comment shared on social media can have a wide impact and may become a continuous sin if it causes harm to others. Therefore, individuals must think carefully before speaking or writing.
In conclusion, the tongue reflects the condition of the heart. Be mindful when speaking and choose kind words to preserve relationships, spread goodness, and attain blessings in life.
