Briefing for new postgraduate students will be held early in each new semester. It is an important event that should be attend by all new students as it will go detail for important things they must know as a postgraduate student in UPM. From academic matters until thesis and graduation.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic attack on March 2020, the briefing done online to avoid crowd and close contact. Usually, the briefing session will start with introductory speech by the Dean of School of Graduate Studies and followed with the briefings and clarifications by the deputy dean of the School of Graduate Studies on matters covering the following perspectives: Academic, Thesis, Student Affairs, Learning Support, Financial Assistance and Mobility.
On 23rd October 2021 on Saturday, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) through its School of Graduate Studies (SGS) has successfully conducted a virtual briefing via Zoom for new postgraduate students that registered for the First Semester 2021/2022. Due to country restrictions, the Zoom Meeting platform has been provided to China postgraduate students only. All new postgraduate students (except students from China) were accommodated through SGS Facebook live at https://www.facebook.com/sgsupm. Almost 1000 total new postgraduate students participated in the briefing.
The students were also introduced to the International Student Association (UPMISA). The International Students Association was formed to improve the international students' experience in the UPM and provide an opportunity to share experiences, network and integrate with fellow students.
All students were allowed to ask questions during the briefing to further understand the briefings and clarification that has been conveyed in the live chat in Facebook and Zoom chat box. The event started at 10.00 am and ended at 12.00 pm.
