In today’s digital era, social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook have become an integral part of daily life, especially among students. Although social media serves as a fast medium for communication and information sharing, excessive use can negatively affect students’ focus and academic performance. Therefore, some high-achieving students take a bold step by limiting or even deactivating their social media accounts as one of their strategies to achieve academic success.
One of the secrets of successful students is their ability to maintain focus while studying. Social media often becomes a source of distraction because constant notifications can interrupt students’ concentration on their studies. By deactivating social media, students are able to devote their full attention to learning without unnecessary interruptions. This allows them to understand the topics they study more deeply and improve the effectiveness of their study time.
In addition, social media often causes students to spend a significant amount of time without realizing it. Activities such as watching short videos or browsing irrelevant content can consume hours each day. When social media is deactivated, students can manage their time more effectively and use it to revise lessons, complete assignments, or engage in more beneficial activities.
Deactivating social media also reflects a high level of self-discipline among students. Successful students usually have clear goals to achieve academic excellence. Therefore, they are willing to sacrifice temporary entertainment in order to pursue their ambitions. This attitude of discipline and commitment becomes an important factor that helps them maintain outstanding academic performance.
In conclusion, deactivating social media is not the only factor that determines a student’s success, but it is an effective step to improve focus, time management, and self-discipline. Wise students will use technology in a balanced way and will not allow it to become a barrier to their academic success. Therefore, every student should learn to control their use of social media in order to achieve academic excellence and a brighter future.
