The Public Must Remain Vigilant Against the Deceptive Tactics of Scammers

Online fraud, commonly known as scams, is becoming increasingly alarming and poses a serious threat to society. Scammers now employ a wide range of deceptive and sophisticated tactics to trick victims regardless of age, educational background, or social status. They often impersonate government officials, bank representatives, employers, or individuals offering fake investment and job opportunities in order to gain victims’ trust. As a result, many people fall into these traps without having the chance to verify the information beforehand.

One of the main factors that makes the public easily deceived is the lack of awareness and understanding of scammers’ modus operandi. Scammers typically use psychological approaches such as threats, promises of high returns, or creating a sense of urgency to pressure victims into acting quickly. Consequently, victims not only suffer significant financial losses but also endure prolonged emotional and mental stress. In more serious cases, this stress can negatively affect physical health as well as social and family relationships.

Therefore, various parties have emphasized the importance of improving digital literacy among the public. Continuous efforts are needed to educate people to be more alert to the risks of cybercrime, including always verifying the authenticity of information, avoiding the careless sharing of personal data, and refraining from easily believing offers that seem too good to be true. Being cautious and thinking rationally before taking action are crucial in protecting oneself from becoming a victim of fraud.

In addition, cooperation between government agencies, educational institutions, and local communities must be strengthened to disseminate information related to cybercrime. Digital safety is not solely the responsibility of authorities but requires active participation from society as a whole. With high awareness and effective preventive measures, the risk of falling victim to scams can be reduced and the well-being of the community can be safeguarded.
