ATBU VISITS SGS UPM
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, Nigeria was established in 1980 as a Federal University of Technology. It was named after the first Nigerian Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa in 1988. The Federal Government establishes the University to cater for science and technology-based tertiary education needs of the geopolitical zone. The Postgraduate studies in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University are mostly science and technology based with seven (7) faculties and coordinated by the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) headed by a Dean.
Professor Abdullahi A. Umar, the DVC Academics and Alhaji Hassan Tolba, the Bursar of the University visited the School of Graduate Studies (SGS), Universiti Putra Malaysia on the 15th of October, 2015 with the aim of having firsthand information on studying in Universiti Putra Malaysia directly, and to have further and future collaboration with the University.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Bujang B.K. Huat (Dean of SGS, UPM), supported by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tang Sai Hong (Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, Learning Support, Alumni, Industrial Relations, & Publication) and the head of Bursary Department.
The interaction was successful. It covered areas of interest such as collaborative programs, joint PG supervision, staff exchange programs and UPM research clusters. All these areas were comprehensively discussed.
The meeting lasted for two hours, the visiting DVC Academics Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi; Professor Abdullahi A. Umar appreciated the high level of cooperation and access that they received from the management of Universiti Putra Malaysia from this unique event.
