
SERDANG, April 4 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), through the School of Graduate Studies (SGS), successfully hosted a virtual orientation and briefing session for new postgraduate students enrolling in the Second Semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Streamed concurrently via Zoom and YouTube Live, the comprehensive four-and-a-half-hour session welcomed a total of 305 local and international students.
The online event commenced with welcoming remarks from the Dean of SGS, setting a collaborative tone for the semester ahead. This was followed by detailed briefings from the SGS Deputy Deans, who walked the new students through a wide array of essential academic portfolios. Key topics covered included admissions, alternative academic programmes, financial aid, general academic matters, thesis and viva voce guidelines, learning support, and graduation requirements.
To ensure the students are well-acquainted with the university's comprehensive support systems, the session also featured insightful presentations from various Responsibility Centres (PTJ) across the campus. Participating departments included:

To maintain high engagement, interactive Q&A sessions were facilitated throughout the briefing via the chat features on both streaming platforms. Representatives from the respective departments were on standby, providing immediate responses and clarifications to the students' inquiries.
The successful orientation officially concluded with a virtual group photography session at 12:30 PM, marking the beginning of an exciting academic journey for UPM's newest postgraduate cohort.
