Prior to the site visits, a presentation session was conducted at Meeting Room 1, School of Graduate Studies. The presentations were delivered by the heads of Topaz Zone and Emerald Zone, who outlined the concepts developed for their respective shared spaces. Among the key aspects presented were the design ideas and planning concepts, the costs involved in the implementation, and the timeline of the project from its initiation to completion. The session provided the judge with a comprehensive overview of each zone’s planning approach and strategic objectives before the physical evaluation commenced.

The judging session was conducted by Mrs. Nik Hafzaini Nik Hassan, Head of the International Admissions Section, Admissions Division and Academic Governance Division, UPM. Throughout the evaluation process, the judge assessed several key criteria, including space organisation, compliance with EKSA standards, innovation and creativity in workspace design, systematic labelling, as well as overall cleanliness and safety of the environment. The judge was accompanied by Mrs. Norhasliza Hassan, Assistant Registrar of the School of Graduate Studies, Mrs. Nadiah as the SPS EKSA Coordinator, and members of the SPS EKSA Committee throughout the judging process. Their presence reflected SPS’s continuous commitment to ensuring that EKSA practices are implemented consistently and effectively across the organisation.

The competition was organised to encourage a culture of quality work practices through systematic, efficient, and user-friendly space management, while also promoting teamwork among SPS staff. Additionally, the initiative served as a platform for continuous improvement through the sharing of best practices between participating zones. Through the organisation of this shared space competition, the School of Graduate Studies at UPM continues to reinforce its commitment to cultivating a professional, conducive, and excellence-driven work environment in line with the university’s aspirations.
