Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) recently participated in the Java-Tour: Ayo Kuliah di Malaysia 2019 organised by the Education Malaysia in Indonesia. The purpose of the programme was to promote programme of studies offered by the public and private universities in Malaysia. The 10 days programme started from April 19 until April 29, 2019 which covered Denpasar, Surabaya, Cirebon, Jakarta and Bandung.
Offer letters to candidates who qualified and interested to study in Malaysia were issued on the spot during the programme. Besides UPM, there were 22 Malaysian public and private universities have participated in the programme. During the programme, all universities have put up their booths and provided consultation sessions to the visitors. Schools and universities visits were also held during the program. Furthermore, gala dinners with counseling teachers in each visited city were also organised by the secretariat to strengthen the linkages between schools in Indonesia and universities in Malaysia. More than 1,000 visitors have attended UPM booth during the 10-days programme, whereas nearly 200 candidates have shown their interest in continuing their studies at UPM at the Bachelors, Masters and PhD levels. The Deputy Director-General of Higher Education (IPTS), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education Malaysia has officiated the programme.
