SERDANG, September 11, 2025 - The community programme Lens of Knowledge 2.3: Colours with Community! was successfully organised by the School of Graduate Studies (SPS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in collaboration with SMK Dato’ Abu Bakar Baginda, and was held on 10 and 11 September 2025 at the school premises. The programme was further supported by several internal UPM entities, including the University Health Centre (PKU), Faculty of Educational Studies (FPP), University Counselling Division (BKU), as well as active participation from postgraduate students through the Postgraduate Students’ Ambassadors (PGSA). This initiative primarily targeted the secondary school community, with Form Two students identified as the main beneficiary group.

Throughout the programme, a series of high-impact activities were conducted, including the Identifying Safe Touch talk, Digital Literacy sessions, basic dental health screening, and experiential learning activities through the development of a Knowledge Herbal Garden, as well as hands-on demonstrations on planter box construction and kokedama making. These activities were designed using interactive and practical approaches to enhance students’ understanding of personal safety, ethical and responsible use of digital technology, and early exposure to science and urban agriculture in daily life.

Overall, the programme successfully achieved its objectives in strengthening knowledge transfer from the university to the school community, while fostering social awareness and strategic collaboration between the university and the local community. The programme recorded a total participation of 435 individuals, comprising 382 students and school teachers, university staff, health professionals, and postgraduate students who served as volunteers. The impact of this programme not only enhanced students’ awareness and knowledge, but also reinforced UPM’s role as an institution committed to social responsibility and community development driven by knowledge.
