Postgraduate Student Ambassador (PGSA) Appointment Ceremony: Empowering Future Leaders

August 26, 2025 – The Appointment Ceremony for the members of the Postgraduate Student Ambassador (PGSA) was successfully conducted via Zoom. During the session, a select group of postgraduate students were evaluated and officially appointed to represent their respective faculties and institutes. Student Ambassadors serve as a vital element in enriching the overall student experience within a higher learning institution. Comprising both local and international students from undergraduate and postgraduate levels, these groups are commonly referred to in Malaysia as "student buddies," "ambassadors," or "liaisons," and are typically managed by a dedicated department within the university.

Membership Tenure and Guidelines The membership for PGSA is held for a duration of two (2) semesters, with the possibility of renewal through nominations by the respective faculty, school, or institute. However, membership will be automatically terminated if a student’s status changes to Terminated, Defer, Withdraw, Thesis Submitted, or Completed.

Core Objectives of PGSA The formation of the Postgraduate Student Ambassador program is driven by several strategic goals:

Proactive Leadership:
To train postgraduate students to become proactive ambassadors capable of planning and implementing high-impact university activities.

Character Building:
To enhance the value-added skills of UPM postgraduate students through involvement in character-building, community awareness, personality reinforcement, and industry-related co-curricular activities.

Strategic Networking:
To strengthen the relationship between UPM postgraduate students, alumni, and industry partners, thereby diversifying student perspectives and expanding their professional networks.

This initiative underscores the university’s commitment to producing holistic graduates who are not only academically excellent but also socially responsible and industry-ready.
