June 12th, 2024, Wednesday - The mental health of staff is crucial because it plays a significant role in influencing the overall work environment and organizational health. Staff with good mental health tend to be more productive. They can focus better on their tasks and complete their work more efficiently. Good mental health also positively impacts the personal well-being of staff, leading to a better balance between work and personal life. Organizations that prioritize the mental health of their staff tend to experience lower turnover rates. Staff feel valued and are more likely to remain with the organization for the long term.
Paying attention to the mental health of staff is an important form of corporate social responsibility. It shows that the organization values the well-being of the individuals and the community they serve. By understanding the importance of staff mental health, organizations can take proactive steps to support and enhance the overall well-being of their employees, which in turn benefits the organization's overall performance.

Therefore, the School of Graduate Studies invited Prof. Dr. Hjh. Firdaus Mukhtar from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FPSK) UPM on 12th June 2024, Wednesday for a one-hour session held in Meeting Room 1, School of Graduate Studies to discuss mental health issues. Prof. Dr. Hjh. Firdaus shared tips and provided clear and in-depth explanations on detecting signs of emotional distress that could lead to mental health issues.
Thank you, Prof. Dr. Hjh. Firdaus, for the impactful and comprehensive session that greatly benefited all the staff at School of Graduate Studies.
