Serdang, January 23rd, 2026 — The School of Graduate Studies (SGS), Universiti Putra Malaysia, organised its first EKSA gotong-royong activity of the year as an opening initiative for 2026. Held in the morning, the programme saw the active participation of all SGS staff, including members of the management team, reflecting a shared commitment towards fostering a clean, organised, and conducive working environment.
The gotong-royong focused primarily on organising individual work cubicles. Staff members took the opportunity to rearrange documents, dispose of unnecessary materials, clean their respective workspaces, and ensure that office equipment was systematically arranged and safe. This initiative aligns with the implementation of the Public Sector Conducive Ecosystem (EKSA), which emphasises cleanliness, organisation, safety, and a professional corporate image within an organisation.

The involvement of the management team alongside support and administrative staff further strengthened teamwork and a sense of togetherness among SGS personnel. Such participation demonstrates that a culture of excellence begins with individual responsibility and discipline in maintaining one’s workspace. It also highlights the importance of collective effort in sustaining a high standard of workplace practices.
Beyond enhancing office tidiness, the gotong-royong served as a platform to cultivate awareness on the importance of a systematic work environment in supporting productivity and service efficiency. A well-organised workspace enables staff to perform their duties with greater focus, speed, and effectiveness, ultimately contributing positively to the quality of service delivery to clients and stakeholders.
Overall, the organisation of the SGS EKSA Gotong-Royong reflects the continuous commitment of SGS towards strengthening a quality-driven work culture in line with the aspirations of Universiti Putra Malaysia. It is hoped that similar initiatives will continue to be implemented from time to time to ensure a professional, clean, and conducive workplace environment in pursuit of organisational excellence.
