Serdang, 22 June 2026 – The School of Graduate Studies (SGS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) conducted an online briefing session with Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) to share its experience and best practices in the implementation of International Collaborative Programmes (ICP) at the postgraduate level.


The session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Nitty Hirawaty Kamarulzaman, Deputy Dean (Admissions, Institutional Relations and Financial Aid) of SGS, together with Ms. Nur Nadjla Ahmad Razei, Head of the Institutional Relations Unit. The briefing was attended by more than 20 participants, mainly academic staff from UMK, comprising representatives from the Centre for Graduate Studies, the Centre for Excellence and Academic Development, the University Quality Management Centre, and several faculties.


The session provided an overview of UPM’s approach to managing Joint, Dual, and Double Degree programmes, with discussions covering policy and governance frameworks, accreditation and approval processes, collaboration models, student supervision and monitoring, programme structures, financial arrangements, and institutional agreements.
The engagement also served as a platform for both universities to exchange perspectives on the opportunities and challenges associated with international academic collaborations. Through this knowledge-sharing initiative, UPM reaffirmed its commitment to advancing best practices in International Collaborative Programmes, strengthening strategic partnerships, and supporting the continued internationalisation of postgraduate education in Malaysia.
