UPM-USQ Strengthen Ties with Collaborative Programme

Serdang, March 31 (UPM) - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) added another institution to its international collaborative programme, when an agreement was signed to offer the Dual PhD programme with the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Australia.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed by the Vice Chancellor of UPM, Professor Dato' Dr. Mohd Fauzi Ramlan, and the Vice Chancellor of USQ, Professor Jan Thomas, on behalf of their respective institutions here today.

The event was witnessed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Datuk Dr. Mad Nasir Shamsuddin, the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, UPM, Professor Dr. Bujang bin Kim Huat, USQ Faculty of Health, Engineering and Sciences (HES ) Executive Dean, Professor Lyn Karstadt, and Executive Director (USQ International and Development ), Associate Professor Dr. Talal Yusaf.

The collaboration with the University of Southern Queensland will offer students the opportunity to pursue PhD studies at two leading universities and receive two certificates from both universities upon successful graduation. Among the courses offered under this programme are Agriculture, Engineering, Sciences, Language, Information Technology, Health, Education, Nursing, Psychology and Communication.

In addition to the Dual PhD programme with the University of Southern Queensland, UPM also offers other programmes in collaboration with several leading universities such as the University of Sheffield, UK (Jointly Awarded PhD Degree), the University of Nottingham, UK (Dual PhD), the University of Newcastle, Australia (Jointly Awarded PhD Degree), Ajou University, Korea (Dual Master of Science) and Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan (Dual PhD) .
