29 August 2025 – The School of Graduate Studies organized a Used Cooking Oil Soap-Making Course as part of its green sustainability initiatives. The program aimed to raise awareness about environmental sustainability, waste recycling practices, and effective waste management among its staff. The course, held on Friday, 29 August 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:15 PM at the School of Graduate Studies Lobby, was attended by 34 staff members. This program was specially organized for all School of Graduate Studies staff as an effort to cultivate a sustainable culture in the workplace and strengthen soft skills.

The session was conducted by Puan Hairunnisak Jalil, an Agriculture Officer from the Livestock Extension Section, University Community Transformation Centre (UCTC). The course began with a theoretical briefing on the environmental impact of improper used cooking oil disposal, followed by a detailed soap-making demonstration. Additionally, participants took part in practical activities covering the soap-making process, as well as the application of safety techniques and proper storage methods. This hands-on learning approach provided participants with the opportunity to understand the entire recycling process of used cooking oil more effectively.

As a result of this course, beyond the theoretical knowledge gained, participants completed practical activities encompassing the full soap-making cycle. This approach not only enhanced their understanding but also encouraged a deeper appreciation for the importance of sustainable waste management. It is hoped that the organization of this course will support the university's sustainability agenda and encourage continuous sustainable practices in daily life and the working environment.
